Broad-based participation and a desire to rise to the challenge of global competitiveness

At Fiat, quality has no limits. While Pomigliano is the Gold plant for auto production, the facility located in Bielsko-Biała (a city of 200,000 inhabitants in southwestern Poland) is the Group’s Gold level plant for engine production. Of course, Gold refers to the World Class Manufacturing (WCM) level achieved by the Bielsko-Biała plant in April 2012, after six years of consistent and rigorous application of the WCM methodology. It was fitting recognition for a factory with cutting-edge technology and processes that is responsible for production of two strategically important engines in the Fiat line-up: the 1.3-liter MultiJet and the 0.9-liter TwinAir. At launch, both engines were recognized with the Engine of the Year award. The objective of the WCM methodology is to achieve continuous improvement in the production process by eliminating waste and improving quality, safety, working conditions and environmental performance.
