Satisfying the growing demand for mobility, while reducing the impact vehicles have on society and the environment over their life cycle, is a strategic necessity. Aware that no one-size-fits-all solution for sustainable mobility exists, Fiat is working on several fronts to improve the eco-compatibility of conventional engines, increase the use of alternative fuels, develop non-conventional powertrains, design systems to cut emissions, and develop technologies that increase energy efficiency. This commitment leads to the creation of the Natural Power line, the most extensive range of bifuel CNG/gasoline passenger cars and commercial vehicles available in the market and the development of solutions for all brands, in collaboration between FPT Powertrain Technologies and Centro Ricerche Fiat, that have marked the technological evolution of the automobiles sector: from the Common Rail to the MultiJet... ...and, more recently, the MultiAir, the revolutionary electro-hydraulic electronic valve control system, and the TwinAir, the world's first high-tech two-cylinder engine. It has also led to Fiat being recognized as the automaker with the lowest average CO2 emissions in Europe for three consecutive years (source: Jato Dynamics). Find out more
